Tax Revenue For The First Three Months Of The Year Continues To Increase By More Than 20% Compared To 2021

Phnom Penh: Domestic tax revenue in the first three months of 2022 was worth about 1.2 billion US dollars, an increase of about 22.5% compared to the same period in 2021.

In a press release issued on 19 April 2022, the General Department of Taxation stated that the five main sources of tax revenue that have maintained significant growth are in income tax, which collected more than $ 674 million, more than $ 193 million in value-added tax, more than $ 74 million in special value-added tax, more than $ 78 million in salary tax and about $ 56 million in property tax on real estate transfers.

Director General of Taxation Kong Vibol noted that although the Cambodian economy was affected by Covid-19, tax revenue management is still good. He urged tax officials to continue to strengthen measures, policies and fiscal administration consistently.

On 24th March 2022, Prime Minister Hun Sen sent a letter of appreciation to the Director General of the General Department of Taxation, Kong Vibol and all officials of the General Department for their excellent tax collection work in 2021 which collected more than 124.02% of the plan. Prime Minister considers that this is the history of tax collection that the General Department has achieved.

Prime Minister Hun Sen said that the tax collection received in 2021 shows the strength of the economy, the strength of independence and sovereignty of Cambodia.
